It is damaging to assume that when a tragedy like a global health crisis occurs, less newsworthy problems disappear. Individuals struggling with mental health issues, physical disabilities, non-COVID-related health conditions, and substance use still endure these conditions in this time of quarantine and lockdown. In fact, if anything, problems like addiction are exacerbated by the enforced isolation, increased stress, financial uncertainty, and fear that have accompanied the pandemic. This is precisely where telehealth options like the virtual intensive outpatient program (“online IOP”) at New Bridge Foundation® comes into play.
If you or someone you care about is battling a substance use disorder and might benefit from an online IOP like the one at New Bridge Foundation®, don’t hesitate to get the help needed. Reach out to New Bridge Foundation®’s San Francisco Bay-Area facility today using our convenient online form or call us at 866.772.8491. Our compassionate, expert team of addiction specialists is waiting to provide the necessary tools needed to achieve genuine, long-term recovery.
What Is an Online IOP?
Fortunately, not every individual struggling with addiction needs a comprehensive, 24/7 residential treatment program. For those individuals who do need residential treatment, New Bridge Foundation® is currently accepting clients in both our long-term and short-term programs. However, for those individuals who do not require a residential level of care or for those who feel that they cannot take time away from outside responsibilities, our online IOP program is a great option.
In an online IOP, clients get the level of care they need without leaving the comfort of their homes. There are many different scheduling options that allows individuals to fulfill their other responsibilities and obligations. In our program, New Bridge Foundation® clients can access our Bay-Area-based team of addiction specialists from anywhere in the State of California via telephone or online. Through our virtual intensive outpatient program, our clients can take advantage of:
- Individual counseling sessions that include approaches like cognitive-behavioral and relapse prevention
- Group counseling sessions
- 12-step meetings
- Family support groups
- Aftercare programs including free aftercare for life
- Education
An online IOP, like the one at New Bridge Foundation®, is not a substitute for residential treatment. However, if you are struggling with addiction issues and either cannot commit to residential care or do not feel that it is necessary at this time, then this level of treatment might be right for you.
The Benefits of an Online IOP
The benefits of an online IOP for clients who are not able to commit to a higher level of care are well known. Among these are:
- You will have more time and opportunity to work on the skills that you are learning in your online IOP.
- A program like this one will give you time to build and develop a support network, both in the virtual IOP and outside of it.
- Our online IOP offers the same quality standard of care as our residential programs.
- Participating in our online IOP means that you can receive treatment either in the morning, afternoon, or evening depending on which time-frame works best for your schedule.

One of the most difficult aspects of addiction is that it is isolating. In these times of social distancing and quarantine, we can feel even more separated from the people and activities in our lives that give us purpose and meaning.
